INDONESIAN NATIONALISM IN 2022 AS BASED ON THE 1928 YOUTH PLEDGE

The moral values professed by the youth represented at the Youth Congress II on October 27-28, 1928 in Jakarta were the ideas of the unity and integrity of the different ethnic groups and religions of the indigenous people of Indonesia. The feeling of nationalism as an Indonesian nation had crystallized among the indigenous people, who accounted for 97.4% of the population at the time of the birth of the Youth Pledge. Residents of Chinese heritage who secretly sympathized with the Youth Pledge of October 28, 1928 lived in fear of repercussions from repressive Dutch legal politics. Those residents ethnically descended from the Mongoloid race could be accused of being involved with people with bad intentions, who with their guile would contribute to efforts to overthrow the Dutch government and as such could be punished under the Wetboek van Strafrecht (Dutch Criminal Code).
